ORPHELIA Pharma annonce la nomination de Pierre Attali en tant que membre de son Conseil d’Administration

Paris et Lyon, le 25 juin 2018 – ORPHELIA Pharma, société biopharmaceutique dont la mission est de développer et commercialiser des médicaments pédiatriques dans les domaines de la neurologie et de l’oncologie, a le plaisir d’annoncer que Monsieur Pierre Attali rejoint son Conseil d’Administration.

Médecin de formation, Pierre Attali possède plus de 30 ans d’expérience dans le développement de médicaments, notamment en oncologie, au sein de l’industrie pharmaceutique et de  sociétés de biotechnologie. Il a été successivement Directeur de la Recherche Clinique puis Directeur des Alliances chez Synthelabo ; Directeur Médical et Directeur Général Délégué chez Bioalliance Pharma/Onxeo, et depuis 2015 Directeur de la Recherche et du Développement chez Sensorion. Il a également créé et dirigé plusieurs entreprises de biotechnologie parmi lesquelles OSMO, Molecular Engines Laboratories (MEL), Urogene et Selexel.

Pierre Attali a accompagné le développement, l’enregistrement et la commercialisation en Europe et aux Etats-Unis de plus de 10 nouvelles molécules ou formulations. Il est le co-inventeur de nombreux brevets et auteur de nombreux articles scientifiques.

Pierre Attali joins ORPHELIA Pharma Board Of Directors

Pierre Attali, MD, will bring to ORPHELIA Pharma his expertise in clinical development, especially in oncology, acquired during a 30-year career in pharmaceutical and biotech companies. Dr. Attali was successively Head of Clinical Research Department, Licensing Director and General Manager at Synthelabo, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Medical Officer at Bioalliance / Onxeo, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Urogene. More recently, he joined Sensorion as Chief Medical Officer and Head R&D. He also founded and managed several biotech companies, such including OSMO, Molecular Engines Laboratories (MEL), and more recently Selexel.

Pierre Attali contributed to the development, registration and marketing of more than 10 novel  drugs and formulations, both in Europe and in the United States. He authored numerous peer-reviewed scientific publications and patents.

ORPHELIA Pharma annonce le dépôt du dossier d’enregistrement européen de Kigabeq®, la première formulation pédiatrique de vigabatrine

Paris et Lyon, le 27 février 2018 – ORPHELIA Pharma, société biopharmaceutique dont la mission est le développement et la commercialisation de médicaments pédiatriques dans les domaines de la neurologie et de l’oncologie, annonce aujourd’hui avoir déposé en 2017 un dossier de demande d’autorisation de mise sur le marché, en procédure centralisée pour sa spécialité Kigabeq®.

Kigabeq® est la première formulation pédiatrique de vigabatrine, un médicament antiépileptique essentiel, présentée sous forme de comprimés solubles et sécables de 100 mg et de 500 mg pour voie orale et/ou (naso)gastrique. L’indication revendiquée est le traitement des spasmes infantiles (syndrome de West), une encéphalopathie gravissime du nourrisson.  Kigabeq a été développé exclusivement pour l’enfant et pourra bénéficier d’une autorisation de mise sur le marché pédiatrique (PUMA, Paediatric Use Marketing Autorisation).

Rima Nabbout, Chef du Service de Neurologie Pédiatrique à l’Hôpital Necker-Enfants Malades ; « Cette nouvelle formulation aura l’avantage d’une meilleure adaptation de la dose au poids de l’enfant et une plus grande facilité d’utilisation ».

Une étude d’acceptabilité, de tolérance et de pharmacocinétique a été menée avec Kigabeq® dans 24 centres hospitaliers français entre 2014 et 2016 chez 38 enfants souffrant de spasmes infantiles ou d’épilepsie partielle pharmaco-résistante. Cette étude, dont les résultats ont été présentés au congrès de la Société Française de Neurologie Pédiatrique (SFNP) à Bordeaux du 31 janvier au 2 février 2018, a permis d’objectiver la bonne observance du traitement avec une facilité d’emploi et une bonne adéquation de la dose administrée au poids de l’enfant.

A propos du syndrome de West

Le syndrome de West ou spasmes infantiles est une encéphalopathie épileptique gravissime du nourrisson qui associe des spasmes axiaux en salves, une détérioration psychomotrice et un tracé EEG intercritique hypsarythmique. C’est une maladie rare, avec une incidence estimée à 0,05 pour 10.000. Elle peut survenir chez un nourrisson antérieurement sain ou chez un enfant au développement cognitif altéré.

ORPHELIA announces the filing of the Marketing Authorization for Kigabeq®

Paris and Lyon, February 27th 2018 – ORPHELIA Pharma, a French biopharmaceutical company dedicated to the development and marketing of pediatric drugs in the fields of oncology and neurology announces today that it has submitted a European Centralized Marketing Authorization Application (MAA) for Kigabeq® in 2017.

Kigabeq® is the first pediatric formulation of vigabatrin, an essential antiepileptic drug, and will be available as scored soluble tablets of 100 mg and 500mg strengths. Kigabeq® is expected to be used as first-line treatment for infantile spasms (West syndrome), an extremely severe early childhood encephalopathy. Kigabeq has been exclusively developed for use in children and is eligible to a Pediatric Use Marketing Authorization (PUMA).

« We supported the development of Kigabeq® from the beginning.» says Pr. Rima Nabbout, Head of the Pediatric Neurology Department at Necker – Enfants Malades Hospital. « The benefits of this new formulation rely in a better dose to body weight adjustment and a greater ease of use ».

An acceptability, tolerance and pharmacokinetic study was carried out in 24 French hospitals between 2014 and 2016, with 38 children suffering from infantile spasms or pharmaco-resistant focal epilepsy. The results of this study, presented at the congress of the French Pediatric Neurology Society (SFNP), which took place in Bordeaux between 31st January and 2nd February 2018, demonstrated a good adherence to treatment and an accurate dose to body weight adjustment.

About West Syndrome

West Syndrome, or infantile spasms, is an early childhood epileptic encephalopathy which combines axial spasms in cluster, a marked psychomotor delay and an hypsarythmic electroencephalogram. It is a rare disease with an estimated incidence of around 0.05 per 10,000. It affects infants who were previously normal or children with impaired cognitive development.

ORPHELIA PHARMA strengthens its capital base

ORPHELIA PHARMA renforce ses fonds propres et accélère son développement

Cette levée de fonds, souscrite intégralement par initiative OCTALFA, permet d’accélérer les projets de la société avec l’objectif ambitieux d’obtenir trois enregistrements de médicaments pédiatriques en Europe avant la fin de l’année 2020.
